Nation Fransaskoise Bookstore Featured in Le Devoir

In a portrait of independent French-language bookstores outside Quebec — of which only 11 are said to remain in Canada in 2026 — our Executive Director Alexandre Chartier had the opportunity to present what makes Nation Fransaskoise so special. Established in Saskatoon in 2023, our bookstore is today the westernmost French-language bookstore in Canada.

Beyond selling books, Alexandre highlights the deeply community-oriented role of the bookstore: maintaining a connection to reading from childhood through adulthood, serving schools in the region, and offering young Fransaskois a fully French-language work environment. The bookstore also ships across the country.
