Mission of the Fransaskois Archives Centre

“To acquire, preserve and make accessible the archival heritage that enriches the memory and history of Fransaskois people.”

The Saskatchewan History Society coordinates Fransaskois community archives provincially.

To fulfill its mission, the Fransaskois Archives Centre:

Supports and promotes all local initiatives to preserve the archives of Saskatchewan francophones

Provides a repository for Saskatchewan francophone archives at risk of destruction or deterioration

Supports research and teaching by acquiring reference works for its resource centre

Train and raise community awareness of sound records management

Build relationships of sharing

2 — Develop a framework for collaboration

One that supports the development of Saskatchewan's francophone archival heritage.

Build relationships with other archives services, university and research centres, religious congregations, community centres and individuals

Build a relationship of trust and sharing with Métis Nation–Saskatchewan

3 — Catalogue, classify, describe and digitize

Archival heritage, to make it accessible to as many people as possible.

Create a map and a directory of Saskatchewan's francophone documentary heritage

Use an appropriate system to collect and preserve Saskatchewan's francophone archival heritage

Fransaskois Archives Committee

The Fransaskois Archives Committee supports the centre's development.

1. Support the establishment of the centre's policies and regulations

2. Adopt the criteria for acquiring archives

3. Evaluate potential donations of documents to determine whether they are of lasting importance and whether the Fransaskois Archives should acquire and keep them
