EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES - COORDINATION OF SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
DESCRIPTION
The Société historique de la Saskatchewan runs a number of programs and services for the francophone and francophile population of Saskatchewan, such as the Archives fransaskoises center, the Journées du patrimoine festival, the Nation fransaskoise bookstore-boutique and school programs.
The School Animation Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing and implementing school programs (workshops, resources and services) for audiences aged 4 to 18. He or she works closely with the SHS team to provide exceptional customer service and promote Fransaskois heritage and history.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Full-time position (30 to 37.5 h/week).
- Main work location is Regina or Saskatoon.
- The job requires regular travel within the province.
- Start date April 1, 2024.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluate, modify and design workshops and resources: Design or modify activities based on Saskatchewan FFL and FSL learning outcomes, as well as SHS strategies. Assess the abilities, skills, interests and needs of schools (students and educational staff). Monitor education and the francophonie in Saskatchewan. Evaluate activities offered during the year.

Conduct school workshops: Travel to schools. Carry out activities focusing primarily on social sciences and promoting the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of young people. Guide and assist school audiences in their knowledge development.

Manage school resources: Ensure the management of resources and related products, such as the Fransaskois Arrowbelt implementation project, and the accompanying boxes for school workshops.

Promote and organize bookings: Implement a strategy to promote school programs (workshops, resources and services), such as participation in teachers' vacations and the FRESK catalog. Maintain regular and respectful communications with educational staff and key partners. Receive and implement school workshop bookings in a reasonable manner.

Supervise staff: Support recruitment and supervise facilitators and support volunteers.

Participate in organizational development: Support the development of partnerships and activities throughout the organization. Support the team in related tasks as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS SOUGHT
- Experience and qualifications :
- High school diploma required.
- Post-secondary degree in education or history is an asset.
- Experience in educating youth audiences.
- Skills and knowledge required:
- Ability to create a positive experience with students and educational staff.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
- Good organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to supervise with integrity.
- Ability to work in a team and collaborate with colleagues.
- Good oral and written communication skills in French and English.
- Knowledge of the history of the Francophonie in Canada, an asset.
- Knowledge of Canada's Francophone minority communities.
- Abilities required:
- Ability to lift loads (boxes, supplies, etc.).
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver's license in Canada, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Not legally prohibited from working with vulnerable populations (schools).
