EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES - Documentation and Archives Technician

Responsibilities

Under the responsibility of the archivist, and with the cooperation of the team in place, the Documentation and Archives Technician participates in the acquisition, processing and development of archival and documentary collections:

  • Manage information resources,
  • Operate management and distribution tools,
  • Assist users and clients,
  • Provide mediation and training services,
  • Act as an expert,
  • Contribute to information governance,
  • Manage projects and services,
  • Propose, negotiate and manage strategic alliances and partnerships.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This is a full-time position (37.5 hours/week) for a period of two years, renewable.
  • The primary work location is in Regina with a hybrid office/telework split.
  • Start job as soon as possible.
  • Salary is based on the current salary grid.

Required skills 

  • College degree in Archival or Information Science discipline, or an apprenticeship program of two years or more, or two years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of the Office suite.
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written French.
  • Ability to lift loads (archive boxes, supplies, etc.).
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good team spirit and interpersonal skills.
  • Autonomy and initiative.

ASSETS

  • Knowledge of the rules for the description of archival documents (RAD).
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Francophone minority community.
  • Knowledge of the laws governing archival management.
  • Knowledge of spoken and written English.
  • Must have a valid class 5 driver's license in Canada.

NOTES

  • Candidates will be required to pass a test containing practical questions. Successful completion of this test is essential to continue the staffing process.

It operates in several sectors: the acquisition, processing and preservation of Fransaskois archives since 1753; research, development and promotion of the francophone history of Saskatchewan and Western Canada; support and audience development for the Fransaskois community and the heritage sector at the local, provincial and national levels.
